Regarding your show this morning. The caller who called in regarding the inept transit system board who knew nothing about running a district which lead to this current bus crisis; this is what we have to look forward to with an entirely new planning commission. There will be no experience from the current members, a whole new board stumbling along trying to learn as they make decisions that effect our entire county.
ReplyDeleteTom, your show today, with the nicely organized recordings of each of the commissioners' statements at the meeting in question was perfect in revealing how four commissioners were unwilling to openly disclose their reasoning; each one, but particularly Dirk Rhone, sounded like they had been poorly-schooled by legal counsel. And they had to have met in secret or by phone to set up this previously arranged decision. That's illegal, but it doesn't matter to this group. The ends justify the means.
ReplyDeleteAs you said, their discussion was as hollow as their reasoning. Everybody knows they didn't and don't like anyone connected even indirectly to their hated villain, LNG, and so the tainted planning board had to go. But they didn't tell us that, and won't because that would be too honest. Dirk has truly found a home with his fellow liberal Democrats
What will happen, they know and wish it so, will be a new planning board of political sycophants will be appointed, and county staff will essentially control the show. This is a power play that will backfire eventually on this commission, but Birkby and her liberal followers think they can pattern their actions on what Obama and his band of czars and appointees have done: eliminate democracy and discussion in between elections, set in force difficult roadblocks such that any future change in commissioners will be severely hampered if they tried to reverse the actions of this commission. It's a scorched earth approach. Burn the bridges. They don't care. This attitude is what is wrong with this country right now. You have people obsessed with power to the point of ruining the goose that used to lay the golden eggs. We have adult children running this county, this state, this nation, and it shows.

ReplyDeleteUntil we have people who care about the younger generation who are trying to live and raise families here, and choose to get engaged and involve themselves with the local politics, we are going to see the same results. I think that this issue, though, has awakened many!
