    Tom, it should be a lively show on Fri. I hope the good people of this county weigh in on this very important matter for this county.
    These new commissioners and Rohne are a total embarrassment and they do have a deeper and more sinister agenda that they will admit to.
    We need to keep our eyes on Birkby. She carries a great deal of baggage from South county politics.

  2. Having heard the news report on the freedom of information request on the dismissals and comment by the sitting czars I wanted to laugh at the arrogance and comments they put forth. Making stupid statements that qualified people wouldn’t apply before because of the board makeup was politically motivated. This board, according to Mr. H has no preconceived agenda and plan for the county, do they?? Look at their track record. God help this county with all these socialists rising to the top.

    Thank you, Tom, for highlighting the Commissioners' outrageous decision to fire all 7 of the Planning Comm's. This is of statewide importance as it is totally unprecendented, and is in violation of State Land Use Goal #1(Citizen Involvement Program) and the County's own Ordinance, 2001-10which states that the Commissioners shall establish grounds for removal of any Committee member. Please keep this front and center on your Coastwatch show. It is so important to the well being of our County economy and even our freedom!

    Tom,
    Is there a way for those of us who live within about 50 miles of your station towers but do not get your transmissions to somehow get information from your shows?

    I have great concern regarding the political campaign machine that lied and recalled some of our public officials, and also ran campaigns to included phone polling, and defamatory direct mailers, such as Commissioner Huhtala's direct mailer to "target" young voters which stated that his opponent had "back room meetings", doesn't get much more ridiculous than that. Lies put these people into office with the help of the newspaper, the truth is something I hope this community values. One of these activists told me that the truth didn't matter, sometimes you have to lie to "get the job done". When I hear these novices speak in public, I wonder how much longer they are going to ride this lng train of thought and take continued directions from their campaign managers. There are many more important issues that need attention. Will they fire the budget committee next, work to stop logging operations, limit our fishing even more? I'm hoping for an anti-milk campaign so Commissioner Rohne could develop some empathy for the business owners here! Lastly, do you think Mr. Forrester realizes how many thousands of dollars he gives away in free advertising for this groups bidding, anywhere else they would have to pay big bucks for the constant stream of propaganda they put out, makes me wonder why that paper is so invested in this.

  6. In repsonse to the poster who wanted to know about alternatives to pick up the station, yes you can stream it directly from our website. I'm told our streaming player doesn't work so well on some internet radios so be aware of that.

    Tom;
    Thank you for not sweeping this issue undertherug.This action without question will do harm to the future of the county.

    While there are legit issues of the process or lack of,the main concern is the short term and long term negitive impact.

    If, as in this case, a majority of the commish is willing to make rash decisions without reviewing the "Pros & Cons", the view points of the minority members, the impute of our professional staff, government partners and the the general public, the county is headed for rough waters.

    They have without question put the county's future in question.

    They may have done what they we elected to do. Eliminate large employers or developers from crossing the Clatsop County Line.

    Obviously, this set of Commissioners is no better that the Richard Lee set as far as the vocal minority is concerned. Voters must ask themselves if this is a nature of the county thing, just a bad set of coincidences or or something contrived by Steve Forrester. In any case, either the voters allow their elected officials to do what they think best or we start over again (and again and again).

    The power of hearing it over and over...if you've ever met Richard Lee and those other commissioners they are not bad people,this whole place has been over run with lng phobia and all the stories these activists have created about these long standing people who served our community. Now it seems they have "their" people in place. The lawsuits these commissioners are getting this county into cost us the taxpayer, not a price I'm willing to pay.

    Yep, this is familiar. We elect nice people who voluntter to lead us for free, then they do something that irritates the liberal local media and they are abused daily by that media. Roger Rocka and Josh Marquis get involved and we demand the recall of whatever board they want. How do we progress? Thank God, Astoria's leaders have learned to be immune from this corrupt cocersion.
