A friend spotted this classified ad and sent it to me today. I was a little worried about where the country is going with the job picture no better. After reading this I felt better knowing that the politics that have upended Clatsop County and driven off major industry is actually an industry unto itself with growth opportunities. Read on.
Job opportunities working on urgent grassroots campaigns.
Right now, we have the opportunity to make huge gains on critical issues, from re powering America with clean, renewable energy and reducing our dependence on oil, to winning the battle for equal rights. America’s leading advocacy groups are gearing up to meet these challenges this summer. In order to win, they need citizen support and grassroots action. That's where we come in. At the Fund for the Public Interest, we've been organizing campaigns to protect the environment, stand up for the public interest, and defend human rights for more than 25 years. Know the issues. Learn about the issues from some of the nation's top advocates, organizers and experts. Be part of a winning team. Work alongside other motivated staff who share your passion for change. Make lasting friendships. Leadership Opportunities: We also have opportunities for additional responsibility as a Field Manager or Campaign Coordinator. Gain great experience;like an internship, but you get paid. Field Managers work with the director to meet the office goals and increase the impact of our campaigns. Campaign Coordinators work closely with the directors to develop and implement winning campaign tactics, such as organizing the media, building coalitions, and writing letters-to-the-editor. Earn $400-600 per week.
Yes it is a real ad. Yes it is a real company. I love the line about "organizing the media".
Is that you, whining Tom and where have you been if it's true you are just recognizing the organization and strength of these groups?
ReplyDeleteAnd you want to bet they are not gearing-up for an assault on OLNG as well?
Jordan Cove?
I've been warning you about the hard core activists with very competitive money for 5 years or more around here but, it seems many heve been focussed on something else to really notice.
Sadly, they will not go away now, with such a significant victory under their belts as alleged by many but, we cannot forget it was NSNG/Bradwood that filed bankruptcy wasn't it?
What it it causes bankrupty, bad money/resource management?
Failing/failed market?
Lack of product/commodity demand?
The sad thing is the people are the economy and these groups just don’t care who and what they destroy or prohibit.
ReplyDeleteThe old saying: “not in my backyard” seems to be their rallying cry.
Pretty soon we won’t have any backyard. This day is fast approaching, when Oregon will be nothing but a National Park with no roads, no trails, no access and especially no production.
A prime example is the roadblocks they have managed to install for retail construction, home building and land use. These regulations keep increasing briskly in permit fees, hoops to jump and laws the government entities yearly impose on everyone.
Who is in charge, evidently we aren’t.
Sorry, but this NHA designation proposal is another one of them.
Please turn off the lights when you exit the state.
Sorry: no lights, the dams were removed recently and the wind turbines refuse to turn.
