If the first count in tonight's election holds, the Clatsop County Commission will be a very different animal when the new commissioners are sworn in.
With over 62 % of the vote Scott Lee replaces Jeff Hazen.
With 55% Peter Hutula takes John Raichl's spot.
With 57% Debra Birkby takes Robert Mushen's seat.
There are no do-overs, no general election run-off because the winning candidates each garnered over 51%.
As pollsters predicted the Republicans have selected Chris Dudley as their best hope of keeping John Kitzhaber out of the Governor's mansion.
I am very fearful of what this new commission will bring. They will vote with their opinions, not by the law.

Well, they did...and now, we will seriously condider moving across the river.
We don't want to live in a county where the commissioners don't pay attention to the law, but would rather vote according to their own personal views. And I know they will, count on it.
Change, change, change.
ReplyDeleteAnd voters seemed to like incumbents Judge Nelson and DA Marquis
who each received over 6000 votes versus the 4800 for incumbent Supreme Court Judge Rives Kistler.

ReplyDeleteTom: The county (Clatsop) and some state primary election results are proof of how radically left this State of Oregon really is. We can fault no one but ourselves for allowing this to happen. The country is making advancements towards the center but Oregon continues to march on to oblivion. If Kitzhaber is elected in Nov the estimated 2 billion dollar debt will look small. Kitzhaber will request immediate tax increases forcing those businesses still here to seek relocation elsewhere. He will mirror everything Obama thinks is required, following the socialist agenda. Is this really a bad dream or am I glad I don't have 20-50 more years to live???????????
