Yet Another Recall

A petition to recall Commissioner Pat Roberts was rejected on technical grounds Wednesday but it's likely to be resubmitted. I'm told that the agent who submitted it was Jim Scheller who was unsuccessful in his efforts to unseat Roberts in the last election. I'm told that a telephone campaign has been underway to gather support.

On KAST yesterday Commissioner John Raichl said that under the circumstances since he voted in favor of the latest land use decision that triggered the current recalls that he might see himself facing recall at some point. He says he's not worried about it. John is a commissioner because of the previous recall of Commission Chair Richard Lee about a year ago.

We now have a pattern in local politics that relies heavily on recall in regard to any issue connected to LNG.

I wonder when the people who support the LNG projects will file their petition to recall Commissioner Dirk Rohne? After all he voted to essentially stop Bradwood Landing from moving forward. If it makes sense to mount a recall on one side, isn't it reasonable to do the same on the other?
We could eliminate regular elections altogether.
Note: In regard to the last election.

The final tally following the hand count by the Clatsop County Elections Division was 1,465 for Roberts and 1,445 for challenger Jim Scheller – just two votes different from the original 22-vote margin recorded in the final official results from the Nov. 4 election, when the tally was 1,466 for Roberts and 1,444 for Scheller.

Seems to me the local Pro-LNG element's delimna in a recall petition for any reason would be finding a chief petitioner agent willing to use a name other than "anonymous" when filing the documentation.

And then to make an attempt at taking down Dirk Rohne?

Good luck on that one in District 4.

  2. Think the Pro-LNG element would be able to find a Chief Recall Petition Agent and aides that would be willing to use some other name than "Anonymous" when filing with County Elections?

And then, attempt to unseat District 4's Dirk Rohne?

This would be intersting entertainment for certain.

I am absolutely FURIOUS, that this relatively small group of anti-LNG people (about 25 of them), strive to run our county...intimidating people, lying to them to their face, etc.

Something has GOT to be done...I don't know what, except for getting the word out that these people are crazy.

They continue to lie about the "67% that voted against LNG" when they manipulated that referendum terribly by going door to door telling people their children would be blown up. No wonder it failed. Shame on them!

And now they are trying to recall three people who work VERY hard in their districts, just because they don't happen to agree with how they voted on one thing. Shame on them again.

And shame on anyone who agrees with them!

An overwhelming vote of confidence for Roberts and her management of NOHA.

  5. About 25 you say Anonym?

    You got their names?

You a spokesman for the Pro-LNG movement?

    Out them I say!!!!

Now, before this thing starts to really go out of control and people start making themselves look silly as hell, even anonymously!!!

McGee...there are ALOT of people in the Knappa/Svensen area that are very angry at Dirk right now. And very disillusioned as well. He IS a very well respected member of our community, but when HIS district will benefit the most from the tax revenue that Bradwood would bring in, it makes no sense - just like it made no sense that Sam Patrick opposed it.

There IS a group of citizens out here that are thinking about bringing a recall against Dirk - especially after the statement he made at the last reading and vote a couple of weeks ago. Having known this young man for decades, I can tell you, there is NO WAY he wrote that statement. He is in bed with the anti-LNG groups, which he SHOULD HAVE DIVULGED, by the way, and chose not to.

He isn't fit to be a commissioner. Many of us out here are VERY ashamed of him.

Who know McGee, just MAYBE there will be a spot for you soon. If these LOONS win this, people just like you will attempt to run this county and that would a joke.

    Let me get this straight.
You think recall is a terrible idea.
Samuelson barely won in a four-way race and Jeff beat a meth dealer three years ago.
Patricia won by such a slim margin there was a recount but Dirk kicked butt.
Recalls are terrible for the first three, but okay for Dirk because he says the same think he did when he ran and won overwhelmingly against a pro-LNG candidate?

I live in District 4 myself and I think I could venture a good guess as to how far a recall petition will get on a attempt to recall Dirk Rohne but, you and your group have every right to excercise it

My livestream feed malfunctioned this morning and got stuck on "I am absurd" or something like that when McGee was talking then all my tabs closed, it must have repeated McGee stating that at least 50 times before it stopped, HILARIOUS!!!!

Hopefully, everyone remembers that Patrick McGee is the person who admitted putting out bogus polls. Why should anyone believe, or even pay attention, to someone who does that?

This provokes another good and unanswered question "Anonym 7:35PM"....Can you explain to us exactly how the alleged $8,000,000 Tax Revenue(About $222.00 per person, per year in Clatsop County)that you seem to think will be so benficial to Knappa/Svensen and causing such a divide amongst you and Commissioner Rohne's leadership will be apportioned?

Pay no attention to Patrick McGee.

I've known Dirk Rhone for his entire life, and he is exceptionally smart, educated, and sincere person. He is standing up for what he believes and representing HIS district. Period!

I think that the people who oppose the wild- eyed nutcases who are sure that LNG will: kill us all, close the river (especially to commercial fishing...which I think they have had all of two or three days on the Columbia this year), ruin Clatsop County's entire tourist industry, run huge pipelines through our parks, etc. DIRK !!! You are showing very poor judgement on taking care of the people who voted you in as a conserative Republican. Shouldn't you change your party affiliation since Anti-LNG seems to be so heavily supported by the Clatsop County Democrats. You know that the tax revenue would help out school funding in our district. Bradwood is an industrial site. Someday something will be put in there. For certain, there are worse things than LNG being turned back into natural gas. Use your brain and stop supporting the fools running this anti-campaign. They will go on to some other hysterical cause, but you will be looking for support in Knappa to get re-elected. It won't be coming from the people I know who need jobs.
