Commissioner Samuelson has often mentioned her concerns regarding the availability of mental health treatment and care in Clatsop County. The following is offered as a testimony of that work. tf

I am writing this letter in support of Commissioner Ann Samuelson.
This letter has solely to do with her advocacy in the realm of treatment for the vulnerable residents of our county who have mental health, addictions, or developmental issues they struggle with every day.
Ann is a very strong proponent for these populations, and, on many occasions, has spoken about these issues in her public board meetings, and with the media.
She is a member of several social service advisory committees, including the Clatsop Community Health Improvement Partnership, which is dedicated to finding ways to make life better for our county residents who struggle in a variety of ways.
I understand that there are many political and economic issues that our County Commissioners are faced with in their tenure. This letter speaks to the humanistic issues that exist here as well, and Commissioner Samuelson’s continual and voracious efforts to make things better for these fragile residents should not be ignored. She has been a tremendous support for the programs in our county which deal with our citizens who suffer with a variety of personal afflictions.
It is important for this perspective to be noted on her behalf.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Nancy Winters
Executive Director
If a county employee did this they'd be disciplined.
ReplyDeleteSo I wonder who the petition gathers plan to replace her with, these one issue, uninformed, angry people make me sick, you sure don't see them volunteering for good things in our community. I don't remember having a Commissioner that cared about mental health before, if these people win this campaign it will be a big loss for those that need help the most.
ReplyDeleteThe petitioners don't get to replace her with anyone. The other commissioners do.
ReplyDeleteIf Ann's support is as good as she claims the recall will be no problem.
Some people around these parts collect porcelain figurines, Star Trek and Disney paraphenalia.
ReplyDeleteSome people collect memberships and board seats on local non-profit groups and panels just to have them in their "See, I am a Volunteer" portfolio to prosper their vision of a political future but never seem to show up for a meeting as recently evidenced in the NOHA issue and its perception of mismanagement to the detriment of some 300 county citizens.
I would cetainly hope that Commissioner Samuelson doesn't fall into this category.
Mr. McGee, why don't you get off of your rear and get yourself on SOMETHING that would prosper this county?
ReplyDeleteAll that you want to do is blog and put down the people who are involved in this county to try to make it a better place to live and make a decent wage to raise your family.
I for one am very tired of reading your comments.
The opportunities I have had in this community for approximately the last 25 years to serve on boards and in other ways with a number of other folks here who clearly understand the needs of our mentally ill, developmentally disabled, elderly, and our at risk youth have been some of the most challenging and rewarding in my years of volunteering in Clatsop County. I currently also serve on the board of Northwest Regional Education Service District, which is a board caring people from a number of backgrounds. One of the many benefits of devoting time and energy to organizations that are dedicated to making life better for those with challenges is that you meet some of most insightful, caring, and problem solving individuals. There is no time or energy given to negative behavior, or personal attacks. A "passing it on" exists to make things better in our community, that is often unspoken, never any grandstanding with these contributors to our community either, just a what do we do to get it done attitude.
ReplyDeleteThen Ann this recall issue should be just a hiccup along your trail of volunteer service to the community with the respect of your peers, those you serve with and those you have benefitted.
ReplyDeleteThe polls on KAST's News Site certainly confirms overwhelming support for you and Commissioner Hazen.
Guess Ann has nothing to worry about.
ReplyDeleteWhy did she support ending the "Healthy Start" program when she's spending thousands of dollars promoting her political future in trips to Salem?
Of course since KLNG is also so blatantly pro-Samuelson and por-Hazen there's only a small chance anyone will read this
