Holiday Inn will host a meeting of the Astoria Aquatic Center supporters this afternoon at 5:30pm.
Consultant J.P. Moss is scheduled to be at the meeting to report on the status of the facility and the many improvements that have been made along with those still to come.
One of the issues he has identified is establishing a mechanism for people who would like to help at the center or assist in fundraising. This may be an opportunity to get involved or at the very least hear what is going on directly from the guy who is bailing the Aquatic Center out of it's long-standing issues as quickly as possible.
Following that meeting Moss will appear before the Astoria City Council to render a report on the center for the elected leadership.
While it is great to seen this group form, there are still some things to address. CMH donates money (yet they get box full of free passes) City of Astoria Employee's(use pool for free)? I was all for doing away with the intown or out of town fee schedule, but they raised the price way to high for those of us who use to buy a year round or 3 month pass. They keep comparing what they have done with last year yet they continue to forget that the pool was closed for the last month of August... Also even tho we cashed out our passes for the purchase of the June-Sept. pass WE WILL NOT BE PURCHASING ANOTHER ONE.....THE FRONT DESK IS A JOKE,YOU CAN NEVER GET A KEY FOR A LOCKER UNLESS IT IS ON THE BOTTOM,AND THE TEMPERATURE OF THE POOL IS TOO COLD.....
