Where We Find Ourselves

A congressman who only thinks of re-election and siding with bad advice in the process.

A Governor doing " The right thing" on LNG

A Democratic Central Committee taken over by radicals from the 60's

A Republican Central Committee too entrenched in religious issues and invisible.

No other workable political options.

A major Presidential election.

An economy that begs for solutions.

Well, at least it's not boring.

Today we interviewed Joe Desmond who, typically, puts a commonsense face on what is really happening with LNG here. Desmond comes from an environmentalist leaning background. SURPRISE!

Joe believes that LNG terminals can be responsible partners when it comes to the survival of species and the environment.

Look, we have both major party presidential contenders supporting more nuclear power. That's insane. When Obama becomes president he'll get the wake-up call on the actual effectiveness of recycling nuke fuel and how fast spent material is being backlogged here and there. I don't see a boom in building those plants unless the President never gets the word. Both candidates are fond of comparing naval subs and aircraft carriers to the power needs of a nation. They are either kidding themselves or everybody else. Maybe Ralph Nader is the answer.

It's really all about natural gas and co-generation. We have the opportunity with Bradwood Landing and perhaps Oregon LNG as well, to be a big player in western power needs.

The local impact of just one of these plants is big for us. Maybe our congressmen don't think. I'll just leave it at that.

I'd rather see a nuclear plant.
Clatsop County needs to get back to its roots with industry.
